Using pure data as an unlimited sonic and visual source, datamatic combines abstract and mimetic presentations of the material, of time, and of space. Projecting a series of black and white computer-generated images with slits of color, these graphical renderings of data take on multiple dimensions. After 2D sequences of motives derived from hard drive errors, the images are transformed into spinning visions of the universe in 3D until the final scenes where the mathematic treatment opens spectacular possibilities. The sound track reflects this process of imagery via a meticulous stratification of the audio composants, creating immense, apparently unlimited, acoustic spaces.
