Head of the Digital Cooperation Departement and Gallica, Bibliothèque nationale de France (BnF)
A Master in Edition from université Paris-IV Sorbonne, Sophie Bertrand worked for ten years as a project manager for the Bureau International de l’édition française (BIEF). There she was actively involved in bringing together french and foreign book sector professionals, in close collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs. She acquired a solid field experience particularly in Asia and Europe. Willing to work in the digital area she joined Bnf in 2011 where she became the coordinator of a mass digitization of heritage project and got hundreds of institutional partners involved in the Gallica project, BnF’s digital library.
Since February 2013 she has been the manager of the Digital Cooperation Department and Gallica and has monitored the implementation of the evolutions of Gallica as well as the digital partnership policy of the institution on a national scale. Sophie Bertrand also teaches several professional training modules in the book sector and publishes articles on her various assignments.
