Angelin Preljocaj (b. 1952) began studying classical ballet before turning to contemporary dance, which he studied with K. Waehner. In 1980, he went to New York to work with E. Rommett and M. Cunningham, after which he resumed his studies in France with the American choreographer V. Farber and the French choreographer Q. Rouiller. He then joined D. Bagouet before founding his own company in 1984. He has choreographed over 50 pieces, from solos to large forms. Preljocaj collaborates regularly with other artists in various fields such as music (G. Vejvoda, Air, L. Garnier, Granular Synthesis, K. Stockhausen), visual arts (C. Lévêque, S. Gupta, A. Abdessemed), le design (C. Guisset), fashion (J.P. Gaultier, A. Alaïa), drawing (E. Bilal), and literature (P. Quignard, L. Mauvignier)…
