Florence Baschet (b. 1955) is known for her compositional work focusing on writing for the voice, a capella, with ensemble, or with electronics. She composes to texts by James Joyce, Virginia Woolf, but also to poems in Hebrew and Arab (Femmes, 2001). Another theme in her work is the inclusion of instrumental vocabulary in her writing with a particular fondness for the string quartet (Manfred, 2017). Her research at IRCAM led her to work in the field of mixed music, bringing together a soloist with an electroacoustic system in an interactive relationship connected to the instrumental gesture, endeavoring to highlight the phenomena of performance on which the sound transformations depend (StreicherKreis, 2009).
