Frédéric Le Bel (b. 1985) studied jazz at the Centre d’Informations Musicales de Paris in 2004. In 2007, he dedicated himself entirely to composition and studied at the University of Montreal with Philippe Leroux before studying under Serge Provost at the Conservatoire de Montréal avec Serge Provost. From 2014 to 2016, he followed IRCAM’s Cursus program. He is currently a doctoral student (IRCAM and the University Paris 8) working on the development and technical integration of machine learning in the creative process.
Le Bel sees composition as a “combination of research, discoveries, and confused and disturbing feelings” and “expression through the sonic phenomena through an architecture that carries both knowledge and meaning”. His vision is a major issue in his artistic process.
