Before founding the periodical Entretemps in 1986, Gérard Pesson (b.1958) studied at Sorbonne and the CNSMD de Paris. In 2004, he published his journal Cran d’arrêt du beau temps. His opera Pastorale, based on L’Astrée by Honoré d’Urfé, was premiered in its semi-staged version in 2006 (the staged version premiered in 2009 at the Théâtre du Châtelet). From 2008 to 2011, he was invited by the CENTQUATRE-PARIS for a series of commissions entitled Pompes/Circonstances with the Ensemble Cairn. His piano concerto Future is a faded song, was premiered in 2012 by Alexandre Tharaud and his third quartet, Farrago, in 2013 by the Diotima quartet. The performance La Double Coquette, recorded by the ensemble Amaryllis premiered in 2015 in Hong Kong and then performed at the Théâtre des Abbesses in Paris. He has taught composition at the CNSMD de Paris since 2006.
