It is in 1987 that Irène Jacob (b. 1966) made her screen debut in Louis Malle’s Au revoir les enfants. Notable in her role as a piano teacher by the filmmaker Krzysztof Kieslowski, he offered her the title role in La Double Vie de Veronique (1991) for which she won the Cannes Film Festival Award for Best Actress. Kieslowski also chose her to perform across from Jean-Louis Trintignant in Trois couleurs– Rouge causing her career to skyrocket. Irène Jacob prefers films in English and other international coproductions. She has played in a thriller (US Marshals), sung karaoke with Marie Trintignant in Les Fugueuses. Highly involved in the theater, the actress returned to the screen in 2007 in La Vie intérieure de Martin Frost.
