A trained engineer, Robert Henke (b. 1969) is fascinated by the beauty of technical objects and devoted himself to the conception, construction, and performance of sound, form, and structure-generating machines. The development of his own instruments and algorithms are an integral part of his creative process. He works on material made of images and sounds synthesized by computers, concrete recordings, and photographs of lights that he transforms and models using mathematic processes, real-time interactions, and random operations. He is particularly interested in the exploration of space – be it virtual or concrete. Several of his works are conceived for multi-channel audio systems designed especially for the venue in which they are exposed.
